Little Kids Martial Arts
(5 - 8 yr olds)
There’s a moment in every Little Kids class when a child who couldn’t stand still for ten seconds in week one holds a stance, eyes forward, waiting for the count. Parents notice it from the chairs. That moment is the product. Everything else (the kicks, the belts, the very cute uniforms) is how we get there.
What do little kids learn in martial arts classes?
Foundations before flash: balance, coordination, listening, taking turns, following instructions and trying again after getting it wrong. Beginner taekwondo technique is layered through games and drills, so children build real skills while being convinced they’re just having fun. Confidence grows as a side effect of small wins, week after week.
We’re deliberate about what we don’t do at this age too: no sparring, no pressure, no drill-sergeant theatre. Young children need structure delivered with patience, and our instructors (trained under 6th Dan Master Mesut; meet them on the about page) are chosen for exactly that.
The bullyproofing starts here
Bullyproofing at this age has nothing to do with fighting. It’s posture, eye contact, a strong voice, and the self-belief that comes from earning things. Kids who carry themselves with confidence are simply not the kids bullies pick. The technique that backs it up comes later, in the Big Kids program; the foundation gets poured here. More on the philosophy at why children should learn martial arts.
What does a class look like?
Warm-up games that secretly build agility. Technique drills in short, attention-span-sized blocks. A discipline ritual (bowing, lining up, responding to the count) that children take surprising pride in. And a finish that sends them out sweaty and smiling. Classes run at our venues across the south west; find yours on the locations page and check the timetable.

FAQ
What age can my child start? From early primary age. Call with your child’s age and we’ll recommend the right class. [4+ years]
My child has never done any sport. Is that okay? It’s the most common starting point. The program assumes zero experience and builds coordination from scratch.
How do you handle kids with big energy or short attention spans? With structure, short drill blocks and instructors who expected exactly that. Many of our calmest students arrived as our most chaotic.
When does my child get their first uniform and belt? Once they’re enrolled and settled in, usually within the first few weeks. The white belt comes with the uniform; everything after that is earned. [confirm uniform process]
Our Goals
Our program gives children an opportunity to grow in self-confidence and self-discipline. They will learn what respect means and taught the art of taekwondo. We will teach balance, coordination, discipline, and listening skills through fun drills and fitness strategies.
Basic taekwondo tecniques will improve on their physical ability, mental and social barriers. These are the valuable skills required for everyday life.
Cooperation and focus are the keys to learning the about the hand strikes, and kicking techniques. Taekwond is not just about the physical nature but also teaching them how to cope mentally. Each child develop at different rates and we acknowledge that and make sure we keep an eye out on all of our young students.
