Big Kids, Teens and Adults Martial Arts

(9+ year olds)

The Little Kids program builds the foundation. This is the house. From upper primary through to adults, our classes train the full art of taekwondo: technique with real power, forms with real precision, fitness with a point to it, and self defence that respects how the world actually works.

What do older kids and teens get from martial arts?

The teenage years are where martial arts earns its reputation. Training gives teens a physical outlet with structure attached, a goal ladder (the belts) at an age when motivation wobbles, and a peer group built around discipline instead of screens. The self defence is real, and so is the self-respect.

Parents of teens tell us the same story in different accents: grades steadied, confidence grew, the phone got put down twice a week without a fight. The developmental case is laid out at why children should learn martial arts; the teenage version just has higher kicks.

Adults: yes, you, the one reading this

Every adults’ class contains the same three people: the parent who watched from the chairs for a year, the office worker whose gym membership died of boredom, and the person who did martial arts as a kid and never stopped missing it. All three started as beginners with us. All three are fitter, sharper and slightly smug about it now.

Adult training covers the complete curriculum: striking, forms, pad work, self defence and gradings through the belt system, scaled to your fitness rather than assuming it. No mirrors, no posing, no music doof. Just the art, taught properly under 6th Dan Master Mesut and our certified instructors (meet them here).

Sparring, safety and common sense

Sparring exists in our school the way it should: introduced gradually, protected properly, supervised strictly, and reserved for students whose technique and discipline have earned it. Beginners don’t spar. Nobody is thrown to the wolves, because there are no wolves; there’s a curriculum.

FAQ (Big Kids & Adults)

I’m an unfit adult beginner. Will I survive? Comfortably. Intensity scales to the student, and every adult in the room was once the new one catching their breath. Fitness arrives faster than you expect.

Can teens and adults train in the same class? Older teens often train with adults once their level suits it; instructors place students where they’ll progress best. [confirm class splits]

Do you compete in tournaments? Our focus is traditional training and personal progression. Students interested in competition can talk to the instructors about pathways. [confirm competition involvement]

What gear do I need to start? Nothing for the trial. Once enrolled: a uniform (Confirm cost when signing up), and protective gear later as sparring approaches. We’ll tell you exactly what and when.

Our Goals

Taekwondo martial arts offers an exciting and dynamic training skill set for all ages. We teach the life skills of being a team player, develop social skills, discipline and more importantly self respect.

Our Big kids program enhances their fitness with strenuous physical activity regimes.

We understand each student has different level of development and we will harness and take that on board.

Taekwondo training can burn calories and also relieve tensions from everyday life, eg. work and studies!

Our sessions always start with a warm up and stretch and then we increase the intensity and energy to create a positive environment for students, instructors and teachers.

The key about joining Team Martial Arts taekwondo is having fun and definitely a place to make new friends.
